5 Things to Do When Stuck at Home
What a time to be alive! This COVID-19 outbreak is unlike anything I've ever experienced before, and I have a feeling a lot of you can say the same. Before I get too far into this, I wanted to say that my heart goes out to you if you've been physically, emotionally, or financially affected by virus. I hope that I can use my Handmade Hoosier platform to bring some joy, positivity, and encouragement to you during this time.
If you've been stuck inside for any length of time in an attempt to quarantine yourself, you miiiight be about to pull a Britney Spears and shave your head out of sheer panic, stress, boredom, etc.. In an attempt to discourage you from doing that, I've created a list of 5 things you can do while stuck at home. If you try any of these ideas, tell me how you liked them in the comments below! Stay healthy and try to find the positives in this strange season we're in.
1. KEEP YOUR BRAINÂ IN GEAR
You could binge watch shows on Netflix all day, but eventually your brain is going to need some activity. Read a book (here's what I'm reading), try out a crossword puzzle, or bust out a jigsaw puzzle (Freckled Hen Farmhouse has some adorable ones)!Â
2. MOVE YOUR BODY
Get some fresh air by going for a walk or try out a virtual workout (Les Mills offers a free trial and I promise you'll get a serious booty-kicking!). You'll feel so much better after getting some exercise in!
3. TRY SOMETHING NEW
Use your newfound free time to try something new! Whether it's a new recipe (this stir fry is BOMB), a new craft (Brit + Co is offering free creative classes through the end of March with promo code SELFCARE), or a new podcast (Young House Love is one of my favorites!), now is a great time to try something that you may not always have time for.
4. PREP YOUR HOME FOR SPRING
Nothing inspires me to disinfect all those nooks and crannies quite like COVID-19 and the arrival of spring. Bust out your cleaning supplies, pop in your headphones, and get your home all cleaned up. Check out Clean Mama for DIY cleaner recipes and decluttering tips!
5. MAKE TIME FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Play a board game (Blokus Duo and Bananagrams are my favorite!) or bake cookies together. Have a Facetime dinner date with your extended family and friends. Take advantage of the extra time to connect with those you love!
I love your positivity. You are showing an incredible example of how to handle a crisis with grace. Know that there are those holding you up to continue bringing goodness to the world ❤️
